Join Joanna of Joanna’s Zine Garden and Horticulture For Healing for a hands-on Zine-Making Workshop, where creativity meets self-expression in a supportive and inspiring space! Whether you’re new to zines or have been wanting to make one of your own, this class will guide you through the DIY process of creating your own mini-publication—using writing, collage, and mixed media to tell your story, share ideas, or explore emotions.
Zines (short for fanzines and magazine) are handmade, self-published booklets that allow for total creative freedom. They’ve long been used as tools for personal storytelling, activism, and community-building. In this class, we’ll focus on zine-making as a form of self-expression, reflection, and healing, giving you space to explore themes important to you in a low-pressure, playful environment.
To personalize your zine, here's what to bring:
Magazines, newspapers, or printed images for collage
Personal items (photos, notes, letters, ticket stubs, anything meaningful)
Items from nature (pressed leaves, flower petals, textured materials)
Paper (scrap paper, colored paper, old book pages, or anything fun)
Your favorite writing utensils (pens, markers, fine liners, or paints)
All other materials will be provided.
