Create your own handmade accordion book and fill its pages with layered imagery, color, and meaning. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll explore the art of mixed media—combining watercolors, markers, stickers, magazine clippings, and decorative paper to craft playful and expressive collages.

No experience is necessary; just bring a willingness to experiment and follow simple step-by-step guidance. By the end, you’ll have a unique, personal book that reflects your creative voice.

Materials Needed (Student-Provided)
Most materials will be provided, but please bring the following items for your personal use:

• Glue sticks or paper cement

• Bookbinding glue (PVA)

• Thick-bristled paintbrush

• Medium-weight decorative paper

• Parchment paper or wax paper

• Magazines, stickers, or other collage materials

• Scissors or X-Acto knife

Instructor bio: Ash Llanes is an emerging artist based in Miami Florida who is passionate about book making, photography, collage, and multimedia arts. Ash received her BFA in Fine Art Photography at George Washington University’s Corcoran School of Design.
