Join us for a creative experience inspired by the colorful butterflies, moths, and beetles in our garden. We will visit the Wings of the Tropics exhibit in The Clinton Family Conservatory to study these creatures up close, then head into the studio to bring them to life through drawing and painting.

As the artist, you’ll be able to develop many of these works from a wide range of media of your own choosing. Whether your creative practice calls on the vividness of color pencils, the vibrancy and textural character of acrylic, the glowing power of oil paint or the velvety creaminess of gouache as well as the wonderfully expressiveness of watercolor.

Under the guidance of Carlos Gallostra, you will deepen your understanding of color theory, design, and technique while creating a series of expressive illustrations. All skill levels are welcome.

Instructor biography: Carlos Gallostra is a representational artist whose practice has been shaped under numerous celebrated mentors in the U.S. and Italy throughout the years. He holds a B.F.A. from the prestigious New World School of the Arts of Miami as well as an M.F.A. and an M.S. from the Pratt Institute of New York. In addition, he has furthered his studies at various ateliers, academies, and museums throughout the U.S. and abroad. Next to crafting his work, he takes great joy in imparting ideas, approaches, and helping his students find their voices in the arts.
