Intro to Worms | with The Worm Queen

DATE: Saturday 7/5/25   TIME: 11:30am - 1:30pm

Did you know Charles Darwin’s last book was about worms? Worms, or annelids, are some of the oldest creatures unchanged by time. They have no bones and are 90% water; however, they shaped our entire environment as we know it. In this class, we get to meet some squirmy companions as we discuss vermiculture, or the raising of worms. We will go over how to keep worms as domestic livestock and some techniques for composting with worms or breeding worms for bait and soil maintenance. Worms and worm bins will be available for purchase after the class.

Instructor bio: Melissa Corichi founded her company, Let it Rot in 2015, while attending the Harriet Wilkes Honors College. Melissa is a certified Safe Compost Operator and trained under one of the leading experts in vermiculture, Rhonda Sherman. In 2018 Melissa received her Permaculture Designer Certification. Featured on WPTV and The Weather Channel Melissa, or The Worm Queen, is considered an expert in her field of vermiculture and waste reduction in application to sustainable farming and gardening.
