Nature Narratives: Zine-Making in the Tropics with TJ Marston

DATE: Wednesday 11/5/25   TIME: 10:30am - 1:30pm

Six sessions: Wednesdays, November 5, 2025 - December 16, 2025 | 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM

Please note that this class does not meet on November 26, 2025

Step out into the Garden and transform your surroundings into art. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to create foldable zines—small, expressive booklets—using mixed media techniques such as collage, drawing, painting, stamping, and found natural textures.

Guided by the vibrant tropical landscape, students will explore how to translate observations, feelings, and stories into visual narratives. From bold foliage to delicate blooms, the garden becomes our studio and muse.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or new to zine-making, this course offers a playful and personal way to experiment with art materials, storytelling, and design. Each participant will leave with one or more unique zines inspired by the colors, patterns, and atmosphere of the garden—and the skills to keep creating long after the workshop ends.

Materials : 11x14 Hot Press Watercolor Paper or Mixed Media Paper in a tear away pad/block.  You are encouraged to bring your favorite painting and sketching supplies! A variety of materials will be provided in class for students to play with on a regular basis.
