An Introduction to Yuan Gong Qigong with Layla Parody

Rooted in traditional Chinese wisdom and increasingly supported by modern research, qigong is recognized as a scientifically sound mind–body approach shown to support nervous system regulation, stress reduction, circulation, and overall wellbeing.  

Yuan Gong Qigong is a unique system that integrates both movement and stillness with the intention of unifying the body, breath, awareness, and Qi (life force energy).

In this class, you will be guided through simple, flowing movements and foundational principles designed to reduce tension and improve vitality and internal awareness. The practice is gentle and adaptable, making it suitable for beginners as well as those with previous qigong experience. 
 
Please wear comfortable fitting clothing that allows for easy movement. Bring water and, if desired, a light layer for warmth during stillness practice.
 
Chairs will be provided for anyone who needs or prefers to sit. We ask that you please submit your request for a chair to [email protected] in advance. 
 
Age limit: 18+

Instructor Bio: Layla Parody Smith is a former elite athlete who performed with Cirque du Soleil’s ‘O’ and ‘Le Reve’ and competed as a member of the US National synchronized swimming team. She later worked as a director and choreographer, developing extensive experience in movement and performance. After many years in high-level physical training and the performing arts, she shifted her focus to internal practices and healing. She is now a Yuan Gong Qigong practitioner, helping others build balance and resilience through gentle and embodied practices.
