Orchids in Bloom: The most beautiful weekend of the year!
Saturday & Sunday, March 9-10, 2024
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Orchids in Bloom is a two-day celebration of orchids, the world’s most coveted plant, and for 20 years, Fairchild has been celebrating orchids with South Florida.
Orchidaceae
Orchidaceae is one of the largest flowering plant families known. With more than 28,000 species, orchids have been a beloved plant for millennia. With their incredible ability to adapt, orchids can be found from low-lying tropical climates to montaine cloud forests.
Fairchild's Orchid Collection and The National Orchid Garden
Fairchild is home to the National Orchid Garden as well as the American Orchid Society and the AOS Library Collection. Our orchid collection is among the largest in the world, and features some of the rarest species. Our Million Orchid Project is reintroducing one million orchids to South Florida, a remarkable feat in urban conservation, given that only handfuls of some species can be found naturally in the wild.
Our Orchids in Bloom festival celebrates this staggerinly beautiful and popular plant while sharing its important role in our ecology and throughout Miami.
Be sure to look for orchids throughout the Garden, especially the vining vanilla orchid, from where vanilla beans are harvested!
