About Aroids
Aroids are some of the world's most beautiful and exotic plants; you can see many varieties throughout Fairchild. They're shade-loving and are usually endemic to rainforests and other higher humidity areas. We have a robust Aroid collection, with many rare and endangered species thriving in our Misty Cloud Rainforest and Rare Plant House. You'll marvel at the seemingly endless patterns, colors and leaf shapes.

About the International Aroid Society
Aroid is the common name for members of the Araceae family of plants, sometimes known as the Philodendron or Arum family. The occasionally beautiful and often bizarre combination of spathe and spadix called the inflorescence, sometimes referred to as a "flower," is a distinguishing feature of all aroids. Learn more about Aroids from the International Aroid Society.

Shopping Plants
Local and international vendors offer their best varieties of Aroids for purchase. You'll also be able to see the ribbon winners from the International Aroid Society's annual juried show. Be sure to chat with IAS members to learn about the important work this plant society is doing.
